As discussed in this week’s lecture, the Joint Commission (JC) is an accrediting body that monitors healthcare organizations to ensure they maintain a certain level of quality in the care they provide. While it is not mandatory for a healthcare facility to obtain JC accreditation, most do. For this week’s discussion research the JC and identify at least one performance standard they use to evaluate healthcare facilities. Provide a brief description of how this standard contributes to improved quality of care.
